I love my Brighton jewelry but have decided not to purchase anymore since an bad customer experience. I received my first piece as a birthday gift in memory of my father after he passed away in December 2006. I purchased my second piece in 2007 with many more pieces to follow as personal purchases and gifts. It is this second piece that brought my bad experience. It was a simple heart on a triple strand necklace. Many people complimented me on it. It began to discolor so I went to a local store that sold it. The clerk told me to use a gentle dish soap and like warm water to clean it. I tried this, it didn’t work it actually made the chain worse. I took it back to the same clerk who pretty much denied she told me to use this method. I can no longer wear the piece. I suggested that maybe something was wrong with the metal, the clerk suggested it was my skin. I told her I had 4 other necklaces and 3 bracelets as well as 4 pair of earrings and none of them have began to discolor. Since this experience I received a set as a gift in May but have not purchased any myself. I recently have purchased Lia Sophia jewelery specifically because of their customer service promise. I am an avid jewelry wearer, people often comment and ask about my pieces. I would love to reconcile this and begin to enjoy new Brighton pieces again. The piece I have is not retired as far as I know, I still enjoy to look and seen it about a month ago. I really would love just to exchange the piece if possible. I hope to hear from you soon.
    Sincerely,

I was given a necklace from Brighton store in west county mall in St Louis, MO for a gift after my father died recently. It is something I would never wear but my mother in law gave it to me so I couldnt tell her. I wanted to exchange it for something there that I would wear. I was thinking more of a watch so I could remember my dad everyday that I wore it. The lady at the store told me without a receipt and the tin that it came in I couldnt do anything. I think that is totally unfair. This was a gift and I cant tell my motherinlaw I’m returning it to ask for tin or receipt. I will even have to add to the purchase because I’m sure the watch is way more than the necklace is. I really cant believe that there are absolutely NO exceptions to the return policy. I am very upset with Brighton right now and I have purchased many things there for me and for gifts. I will never shop there again if some kind of exception is not made. I cant help my taste is different than someone elses. All I want is to get something that I can remember my dad by-is that really asking too much?? Please get back with me!!

  14. Maryann Myers Says:

In April, 2010 I purchased a Brighton necklace and bracelet while on vacation in California. The price was about $45 each, more than I usually pay for costume jewelry. After only a few wearings, the clasp on the bracelet broke and would not stay shut. Attempts to fix it have failed, and I don’t know how to return it for repair. Obviously I cannot return it to the store, since I live in NY. Please advise.

    Dear Brighton,
I purchased a bracelet at the airport in Las Vegas over the weekend, I wore it once and I put it in my purse for safekeeping and when I pulled it out, it was split in half, can it be repaired, or can I get something similar that is not so fragile? I am willing to pay extra for an upgrade.

Please let me know where to send it.

Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.

I live in upstate New York. Last month I bought a BEAUTIFUL pair of Brighton earrings in the Brighton Shop in Las Vegas airport. They were defective. I returned them for replacement and according to my delivery confirmation you received them 1/27/11. I never got to wear them and they are currently showing on my monthly crdit card statement. Are you sending them back to me or am I protesting the charge?! I would prefer the earrings!

  18. Janet Says:

I purchased a bracelet for my mother that she recently returned in a small box, broken, and she would like for me to have it repaired for her. The bracelet was a breast cancer item and holds meaning to my mother as well as myself. The bracelet has charms for mother, grandmother, sister, wife, daughter and we paid $60.00 for the item. Reading the comments on this site makes me somewhat nervous that items have been sent but not returned. Please contact me and advise the best way to handle our broken item. Thank you!!

  19. Sue E. Stauffer Says:

    Dear Brighton,
I took my capella hinged red bracelet to Uncommon Threads in Gaithersburg, Maryland to see if it could be repaired. The finish on the inside was rough at one section. They took it on November 5, 2010 and said they would send it to you and you would decide whether to send another or give another option since it was within the one year warranty date. My husband purchased it on May 11, 2010 at the Paradies Shops in The Dallas Ft. Worth Intl. Airport. After not hearing from them for several months, I have found Uncommon Threads has closed their shop in Gaithersburg Square!
Please let me know how I can deal with this. I liked this bracelet very much!

    Sincerely,
    Sue E. Stauffer

    Good Morning,
One of my earrings broke this weekend. The earring loop broke OFF of the earring itself. Can I send it in to be repaired. Please advise. I am very disappointed that this happened as I have and enjoy many pieces of Brighton jewelry.

This is a BLOG about Brighton, not the Brighton website. If someone really was interested in a franchise of any kind, you would contact the company directly AND NOT ON A RANDOM WEBSITE.

was thrilled when i recieved one of your bracelets for mother’s day with a few beads attached. I then purchased a few more beads from my local store. for my birthday I recieved a few more beads as a gift. Two of the beads I did not care for so I went to my local store (Reyers Shoe Store in Sharon,Pa. They refused to exchange the beads because I did not have a reciept.. This was a gift and I told my friend “Thank You” , not “Where is the reciept?”. I will be instructing my friends and relatives not to purchase the beads for me because I want to enjoy my bracelet not be upset when i can’t exchange the gift and build the kind of bracelet that suits my taste. Just very disappointed with something I thougt I would truely enjoy.

On December 24 at at 11:00 i went to The Brighten Store at the Simi Valley Mall , CA. I had just finished working and wanted to purchace some charms for my daughter and grandaughter.
the staore assistants were busy with customers and I waited for one assitant to finish with a gentleman who was purchasing a charm bracelet .
The store assistant thanked me for being patient for which I was pleased to wait for her. I then told her that wanted 3 partricular red charms. On this display side she said there was only one red available but there were red charms on the opposide of the display cabinet. She obtained the one red charm and when both went to the opposite side. She pointed the other red choices. I said i wanted this one also and also the red heart. and I added, ” would you add another red heart, and she said” yes”. My purchase was rang up , I paid with a credit card. I thought the purchase price seemed low so I looked inside the bag. I had one red charm and the 2 hearts. I then got in line again to talk to the same assistant. When I got her attention she said yes. I then told her that I wanted the 4 charms. Her reply to me was ” How was I to know that.” My face must have shown a big shock. Anther customer also wittnessed this assitant’s remark to me. I replied to her “Excuse me.” I said I wanted the 4 charms. So again, I get in line and the assistant rings up the charm and I paid with it with a credit card. This is a gift that is important to me so I check the bag and the store assistance gave me the same identical charm that I had jst purchased. So now I have 2 red hearts and 2 plain red charms. I did not get the one she pointed out on the opposite side of the display. I was upset, given the fact this assitant had given me an attitude. By this time there were 5 people in line but I decided to stay patient and get in line because my daughter’s gift was important to me. When I reach the counter the same assistant helped me. This time I had her go over to the display cabinet and to her I repeated the entire senario to her and then she retrived the charm I was initially selected. This time there had I now had to return a charm and then.

The reason I wrote this was I have always loved to shop at Brighten. My daughters and grandaughter love our collectable. I was totally shocked at this assistants attitude. Regardless of the customer, situation, day of week, holiday. She may not have understood or was pre occupied and that is understandable. What I find unacceptable was her remark to me as well it was in front of several customers “Well how was I to know that”,said the assistant.

I find the remark unaccetable and I was shocked when she said it. Even if the customer is wrong that should have never been said.
I expect an apology from Brighten.
